BlueCore CSR8645 BGA is a product from CSR’s Connectivity Centre. It is a single-chip radio and baseband IC for Bluetooth 2.4GHz systems including basic rate, EDR to 3Mbps and Bluetooth low energy. The integrated peripherals reduce the number of external components required, including no requirement for external codec, battery charger, SMPS, LDOs, balun or external program memory, ensuring minimum production costs.
1. Radio Frequency (RF) IC: The RF IC handles the wireless transmission and reception of signals in the 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) band, which is the frequency range used by Bluetooth. It includes components such as the RF transceiver, which modulates digital data into analog signals for transmission and demodulates received signals back into digital data. The RF IC also manages aspects like frequency hopping, power management, and signal filtering to ensure reliable wireless communication.
2. Baseband IC: The baseband IC deals with the digital signal processing (DSP) aspects of Bluetooth communication. It’s responsible for tasks such as packet formatting, error correction, encryption/decryption, and managing the timing and synchronization of data transmission. The baseband IC also plays a crucial role in implementing Bluetooth protocol stack layers like the Link Layer and L2CAP (Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol).
