Description
ESM740G is 300V, 3A, Thyristor, SCR. SCR stands for “Silicon-Controlled Rectifier.” It is a type of semiconductor device commonly used in electronics and electrical engineering for switching and controlling high-voltage and high-current applications. SCR is also sometimes referred to as a thyristor, and it is one of the most widely used thyristor devices.
The Thyristor brings the best compromise between a fast turn off time and a low gate trigger current for applications where fast switching and sensitive control is requested.
1. Unidirectional Conduction: Thyristors allow current to flow in only one direction, making them suitable for rectifying AC (alternating current) into DC (direct current).
2. Controlled Turn-On: Thyristors have a gate terminal that, when triggered with a sufficient voltage or current, allows them to switch from an off state to an on state. Once turned on, they remain in the conducting state until the current through them drops below a certain threshold or until a reverse voltage is applied.
3. High Voltage and Current Handling: Thyristors are designed to handle high voltages and currents, making them suitable for power control applications.
