Description

A buffer/line driver is an electronic device that is designed to transfer digital signals between different components or systems.

This octal buffer and line driver is designed to have the performance of the DM74ALS240A, DM74ALS540AN series and, at the same time, offer a pinout with inputs and outputs on opposite sides of the package. This arrangement greatly enhances printed circuit board layout. The 3-STATE control gate is a 2-input NOR such that if either G1 or G2 is HIGH, all eight outputs are in the high impedance state.

The “buffer” part refers to the ability of the device to store a temporary copy of the digital signals. Buffers are used to ensure that signals are not lost or corrupted during transfer, and they can also help to match the impedance between the source and the destination.

The “line driver” part refers to the ability of the device to boost the strength of the digital signals to ensure they can travel long distances without losing integrity. This is particularly important in applications where the signals need to be transmitted over long cables or wires.

Features

1. Advanced oxide-isolated, ion-implanted Schottky TTL process

2.  Switching performance is guaranteed over full temperature and VCC supply range

3.  Data flow-thru pinout (All inputs on opposite side from outputs)

4. P-N-P inputs reduce DC loading
