The ST62T00C, ST62T00T01C, ST62T00T03C and ST62E01C devices are low cost members of the ST62xx 8-bit HCMOS family of microcontrollers, which is targeted at low to medium complexity applications. All ST62xx devices are based on a building block approach: a common core is surrounded by a number of on-chip peripherals.
OTP devices offer all the advantages of user programmability at low cost, which make them the
ideal choice in a wide range of applications where frequent code changes, multiple code versions or
last minute programmability are required.
1. OTP MCU (One-Time Programmable Microcontroller):
An OTP microcontroller is a type of microcontroller that can be programmed only once. Once the program code and data are written to the memory of an OTP MCU, they cannot be altered or erased. This feature is useful when security and permanence are crucial requirements. OTP MCUs are often used in applications where the program code needs to be securely stored and protected from unauthorized modifications.
2. EPROM MCU (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory Microcontroller):
An EPROM microcontroller is equipped with memory that can be programmed multiple times and retains its content even when the power is turned off. The key feature of EPROM memory is that it can be erased using ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. To reprogram an EPROM, you would need to remove it from the circuit, erase it under UV light, and then reprogram it using a programming device. EPROMs are useful during development and testing phases, allowing for flexibility in updating firmware.
