The 74HC27, 74HCT27 is a triple 3-input NOR gate. Inputs include clamp diodes. This enables the use of current limiting resistors tointerface inputs to voltages in excess of VCC.
A NOR gate is a logic gate that produces an output of logic 1 (true) only when all of its inputs are at logic 0 (false). In other words, the output of a NOR gate is the logical negation of the OR gate.
The symbol for a NOR gate is a circle with an inverted triangle at its input, and its Boolean expression is represented as:
Output = ~(A + B)
Where A and B are the inputs to the gate, and the “+” sign represents the logical OR operation.
Where the double negation (~) represents a logical NOT operation, and the “+” sign represents the logical OR operation.
NOR gates are also used in memory circuits, such as dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), where they are used to control the read and write operations. In summary, a NOR gate is a logic gate that produces an output of logic 1 only when all of its inputs are at logic 0.
