Description

The NCP6132 dual output three plus two phase buck solution is optimized for Intel IMVP-7 and VR12 compatible CPUs. The controller combines true differential voltage sensing, differential inductor DCR current sensing, input voltage feedïforward, and adaptive voltage positioning to provide accurately regulated power for both Desktop and Notebook applications.

The control system is based on DualïEdge pulseïwidth modulation (PWM) combined with DCR current sensing providing the fastest initial response to dynamic load events and reduced system cost. It also sheds to single phase during light load operation and can auto frequency scale in light load while maintaining excellent transient performance.

Features

1. Meets Intel’s VR12/IMVP7 Specifications

2. Three phase CPU voltage regulator with two internal MOSFET drivers and one external MOSFET driver

3. Two phase Auxiliary voltage regulator with one internal MOSFET driver and external MOSFET driver

4. Current Mode Dual Edge Modulation for Fastest Initial Response to Transient Loading

5. Dual High Performance Operational Error Amplifier

6. One Digital Soft Start Ramp for Both Rails

Note ]

When power on, high voltage AC current transferred to pin of COLLECTOR (pin 5,6,7,8) through
switching transformer. Then it is transferred to transistor’s (Q1 in Start up principle diagram) B pole via internal high voltage constant current driving circuit. The amplified current (about 20 times amplified by transistor Q1) enters power management circuit, charges the VCC external capacitor C1 via D1, and supply a spare voltage of 3.6V for Fb (Fb PIN to ground should be connected with a filter capacitor). When VCC voltage comes up to 5V, oscillator begins to work and controller offers a 25uA ground connecting power for Fb, the circuit enters into normal working mode.
