Description

The LG631-9R is an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) device that retains stored information even when power is removed. It is typically mounted in a DIP (Dual In-line Package) with 16 pins, making it suitable for through-hole PCB designs and easy replacement during servicing.

The IC is a single-chip video and sound processor IC with a built-in microcontroller that supports all of the different worldwide broadcasting systems. The IC provides fully integrated solution to rationalize the design of color TV sets, increase productivity, and reduce total costs.

In LG TVs, this EEPROM is used to store:

1. Firmware configuration parameters

2. Factory calibration data (white balance, panel settings, etc.)

3. Region and model-specific settings

4. User settings (in some architectures)

5. Error logs / service mode data

Z3M Datasheet PDF – 600V, 1A, Triac – STMicro

The Z3M belongs to the Z01 series of TRIACs, designed for low-power AC switching and phase control applications. It is particularly suitable for direct interfacing with logic-level control circuits, including microcontrollers, due to its relatively low gate trigger current.

Function: Triac, 600V 1A, Sensitivity 3mA

Package: SOT-223, SMBflat-3L Type

Manufacturer: STMicroelectronics

See the preview image and the PDF file for more information.

Z0103MN, Z0103MUF is marked Z3M

Description

The Z01 series is suitable for general purpose AC switching applications. These devices are typically used in applications such as home appliances (electrovalve, pump, door lock, small lamp control), fan speed controllers,… Different gate current sensitivities are available, allowing optimized performance when driven directly through microcontrollers.

Key Features

  • Bidirectional AC switch (TRIAC)
  • High blocking voltage: 600V
  • On-state RMS current: 1A
  • Low gate trigger current (sensitive gate type)
  • Suitable for direct MCU drive (with proper resistor network)
  • Compact package (commonly TO-92 or SOT-223 depending on variant)

Ordering Information

Z3M Datasheet

Z3M Features

1. On-state rms current, IT(RMS) 1 A

2. Repetitive peak off-state voltage, VDRM/VRRM 600 or 800 V

3. Triggering gate current, IGT (Q1)3 to 25 mA

Design Considerations

  • Gate Drive: Can be driven directly by MCU GPIO via resistor (ensure IGT is met)
  • Isolation: Use opto-triac (e.g., MOC30xx) for safety in mains applications
  • Snubber Network: RC snubber (e.g., 100Ω + 100nF) recommended for inductive loads
  • dV/dt Sensitivity: High dV/dt may cause false triggering → snubber or proper layout required
  • Thermal: Limited to low-power loads (~100–200W typical depending on cooling)

Selection Guidance

  • Use Z3M for low-current AC loads (<1A)
  • Choose higher current TRIAC (e.g., BT136, BTA16) for heavier loads
  • Select sensitive gate versions for direct MCU interfacing
  • Ensure adequate voltage margin for mains (600V suitable for 220VAC systems)

Alternative / Equivalent Parts

  • Z0103 / Z0107 series
  • BT131 (1A class TRIAC)
  • MAC97A6
  • BT136 (higher current alternative)

Typical Applications

  • Home appliance control (electrovalves, pumps, door locks)
  • Small lamp dimmers
  • Fan speed controllers
  • Heater control (low power)
  • AC load switching via MCU
