The 6N137, EL2601 and EL2611 are consists of an i nfrared emitting diode optically coupled to a high speed integrated photo detector logic gate with a strobable output.
It is packaged in a 8-pin DIP package and availablein wide-lead spacing and SMD options.

Optocouplers are commonly used in applications where electrical isolation is required between two circuits to prevent noise, ground loops, and other electrical interference. They can also be used to provide galvanic isolation, which is a type of electrical isolation that provides protection against electric shock and voltage spikes.

An optocoupler is an electronic device that is used to isolate two electrical circuits while allowing them to communicate with each other through light. It consists of a light-emitting diode (LED) that emits light when an electric current is passed through it and a photosensitive detector that detects the light and converts it back into an electrical signal.
