Description
SR803 is 30V, 8A, Schottky Barrier Rectifier.
A Schottky Barrier Rectifier (also known as Schottky diode or Schottky barrier diode) is a semiconductor device that serves as a rectifier, allowing current to flow in one direction while offering lower voltage drop compared to traditional PN-junction diodes. It is named after its discoverer, physicist Walter H. Schottky.
The key characteristic of a Schottky diode is its use of a metal-semiconductor junction instead of a P-N semiconductor junction found in regular diodes. This metal-semiconductor junction creates a Schottky barrier, which reduces the forward voltage drop across the diode when it’s conducting. As a result, Schottky diodes have faster switching speeds and lower voltage losses compared to standard diodes.
