NAS1097 Rivet pdf

NAS1097 Flush Shear Rivets are more commonly referred to in maintenance circles as “oops” rivets because it’s just what you need when you accidentally make your rivet hole too big. Their smaller head diameters are exactly the same as an AN426 flush rivet that is one size smaller. So just drill to the next larger size, then use one of these rivets and no one will be any the wiser.

The 3/32″ diameter rivets are also perfect for installing nutplates as the smaller head virtually eliminates the need for countersinking. Just use a hole deburing tool to clean the edges for a perfectly flush installation. 1 lbs (0.5Kg) shipping weight.

NAS-1097 is a specification in the aerospace industry that refers to a specific type of countersunk machine screw. The “NAS” in NAS1097 stands for “National Aerospace Standard,” which is a system of standards and specifications developed for use in the design and manufacturing of aerospace equipment and components.

NAS-1097 screws are designed with specific dimensions, materials, and thread configurations to meet the requirements of aerospace applications. These screws are commonly used in the construction and assembly of aircraft, spacecraft, and related equipment where precision, reliability, and safety are critical.

MS20470 Datasheet – Military Universal Head Solid Rivet

This post explains for the Rivet.

The Part Number is MS20470.

The function of this semiconductor is Head Solid Rivet.

Manufacturer: Aircraft

MS20470 datasheet rivets

The MS20470 Rivet is the most common fastener used in the aircraft structuralassembly. The two initial letter in the part number identifies the standard, is military-Military Standard. The number 20470 identifies the geometry of the rivet, in this case: universal head. The head is like mushroom head. The identification part number presents one or two additional letters after the standard and geometry.

A military universal head solid rivet is a specific type of rivet used in military and aerospace applications. Rivets are mechanical fasteners that join two or more materials together by forming a permanent connection. They consist of a cylindrical shaft with a head on one end and a tail on the other.

The “universal head” refers to a specific rivet head design. The universal head has a flat top surface with a slightly rounded profile, providing a larger bearing surface when the rivet is installed. This design distributes the load more evenly, which can be beneficial for applications where strength and load-bearing capacity are critical, such as in military and aerospace structures.

This letters identifies the material of the rivet. Hard 2117 aluminum alloy. Heat treated with a minimum tensile strength of 38,000 PSI. Rivet, solid universal head, aluminum alloy and titanium columbium alloy , Military Specification.

Military universal head solid rivets are commonly used in aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, armored vehicle construction, and other military applications where high structural integrity and reliability are paramount. They offer advantages such as excellent shear strength, resistance to vibration and fatigue, and the ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions.
