ATMEGA8 pdf microcontroller

Description

The Atmel AVR  ATmega8 is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller based on the AVR RISC architecture. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, the ATmega8 achieves throughputs approaching 1MIPS per MHz, allowing the system designer to optimize power consumption versus processing speed.

The ATmega8 provides the following features: 8 Kbytes of In-System Programmable Flash with Read-While-Write capabilities, 512 bytes of EEPROM, 1 Kbyte of SRAM, 23 general purpose I/O lines, 32 general purpose working registers, three flexible Timer/Counters with compare modes, internal and external interrupts, a serial programmable USART, a byte oriented Two wire Serial Interface, a 6-channel ADC (eight channels in TQFP and QFN/MLF packages) with 10-bit accuracy, a programmable Watchdog Timer with Internal Oscillator, an SPI serial port, and five software selectable power saving modes. The Idle mode stops the CPU while allowing the SRAM, Timer/Counters, SPI port, and interrupt system to continue functioning.

Features:

• High-performance, Low-power Atmel®AVR® 8-bit Microcontroller

• Advanced RISC Architecture – 130 Powerful Instructions

– Most Single-clock Cycle Execution

– 32 × 8 General Purpose Working Registers

– Fully Static Operation

– Up to 16MIPS Throughput at 16MHz

– On-chip 2-cycle Multiplier

• High Endurance Non-volatile Memory segments

D78F9177 pdf datasheet

Description

The D78F9177 is 8-Bit Single-Chip Microcontroller.

An 8-bit single-chip microcontroller refers to a type of microcontroller that has an 8-bit architecture. It is a complete computing system integrated onto a single chip.

Microcontrollers are programmable integrated circuits designed to control and manage various functions in electronic devices. They typically consist of a central processing unit (CPU), memory (both volatile and non-volatile), input/output (I/O) ports, timers, and sometimes analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and other peripherals.

The “8-bit” specification indicates the word size or data width of the microcontroller’s CPU. It means that the microcontroller can process data in 8-bit chunks, allowing it to manipulate binary numbers and perform calculations on 8 bits at a time. The 8-bit architecture is considered relatively simple and is often used in applications where cost, power consumption, or size constraints are important factors.

The uPD78F9177 and uPD78F9177Y are uPD789177, 789177Y Subseries (small, general-purpose) in the 78K/0S Series. The uPD78F9177 replaces the internal ROM of the uPD789176 and uPD789177 with flash memory, while the uPD78F9177Y replaces the ROM of the uPD789176Y and uPD789177Y with flash memory. Because flash memory allows the program to be written and erased electrically with the device mounted on the board, this product is ideal for the evolution stages of system development, small-scale production and rapid development of new products.

Features:

• Pin compatible with mask ROM version (except VPP pin)

• Flash memory: 24 Kbytes

• High-speed RAM: 512 bytes

• Minimum instruction execution time can be changed from high-speed (0.4 ms: @5.0-MHz operation with main system clock) to ultra-low-speed (122 ms: @ 32.768-kHz operation with subsystem clock)

• 10-bit resolution A/D converter: 8 channels

• I/O ports: 31

• Serial interface: 2 channels

• 3-wire serial I/O mode / UART mode: 1 channel

• SMB (mPD78F9177Y only): 1 channel

• Timers: 6 channels

• 16-bit timer: 1 channel

• 8-bit timer/event counter: 2 channels

• 8-bit timer: 1 channel

• Watch timer: 1 channel

• Watchdog timer: 1 channel

• On-chip 16-bit multiplier
